Folkness washing and drying guide

How do you wash and dry a Folkness-Duvet?

This is a common question, and here we share some practical tips to help:

WASHING TIPS:
  • Washing capacity: Wash one Folkness-Duvet at a time in a regular washing machine. For double duvets, use a machine with at least 7 kg capacity—not because of weight but because smaller machines often have smaller drums. Pillowcases can be washed together with the duvets to fill the machine. (If they fit in your machine, it’s fine to wash two Duvets at once. Just keep in mind it might cause more wrinkles, but who really minds a few wrinkles?)
  • Break the washing routine: Since Folkness duvets are easy to handle without complicated covers, consider washing them separately as needed instead of waiting to wash a big pile. Maybe you need to wash your Duvet more often than your partner’s, for example.
  • Wash less often: Turn your Duvet between washes to extend the time between washings. Remember that sheets and pillowcases, which are in direct contact with your skin, gather more dirt and should be washed more frequently.
  • Washing temperature: Folkness duvets can handle 60 degrees, but for everyday cleaning, we recommend lower temperatures like 40 degrees. With today’s efficient machines and detergents, the results are nearly the same. To kill dust mites, wash at 60 degrees for at least an hour.
  • Detergent: Avoid fabric softener and preferably use liquid detergent. Don’t use too much detergent and choose one that is gentle and free from bleach to best care for your Duvet.
DRYING TIPS
  • Drying options: The fastest way to dry is using a tumble dryer, but air drying works well too. You can dry a single or double duvet in a regular dryer.
  • If you want a smooth Duvet: Take your Duvet out of the dryer before it’s completely dry and hang it up. This helps most wrinkles to fall out.
  • If you air dry: Wash your Duvet in the morning or before noon, and you’ll have a dry Duvet ready for bed by night. A sustainable and practical choice.
  • Important: Do not use tennis balls or similar items in the dryer when drying Folkness-Duvets.
